A Profa. Michele é moderadora do Painel sobre IoT no CNSM 2014

A Profa. Michele Nogueira, membro do NR2, foi a moderadora do Painel sobre Internet das Coisas (IoT) intitulado “Managing our Networked Life: From Smart Devices to Social Networks”, que aconteceu no CNSM 2014 (International Conference on Network and Service Management).
O painel contou com a participação de renomados pesquisadores da área, que tiveram a oportunidade de discutirem as questões envolvidas no tema tratado.
Abstract: We have observed an increasing number of machines (mostly sensors so far) connected to the Internet and their proportional use for assisting humans in different activities that can improve our safety, comfort and quality of life. With the advanced sensing and processing ability, sensors provide a huge amount of information supporting important decisions in various sectors, such as transportation, health care, home automation and education. It is expected that by 2020, 30 billion total smart devices will be connected, promoting the evolvement of the concepts of Machine-to-Machine (M2M), Internet of Things (IoT) and Ambient Intelligence through the Internet of Everything (IoE). Considering this picture for our networked life – enriched by our daily interactions, social media, personal information and profiles – devices can improve their services, and become even more effective and useful, in a collaborative decision making environment. However, despite all advantages, different questions arise related to network and service management issues. For instance, how can we handle scalability, security, efficiency and energy harvesting constraints? Further, how can correlate concepts such as social networks, network functions virtualization and software-defined networks assist the IoE management? This panel will present a brief overview of the current status of research in this topic, and speakers from Industry and Academia will be invited to have a discussion around those questions.
