Building smart cities: from instrumenting environments to developing applications
The concept of Smart Cities is related to the offer of services of information and communication to solve problems lived by the citizens, in areas such as: traffic, surveillance, emergency care, etc. In this context, the project's purpose is to build an infrastructure of instrumentation, computing and communication for the viability of Smart Cities. This infrastructure covers from acquisition of urban raw data through sensors and internet of things to the construction of applications that will take advantage of such infrastructure. As a result, the project will support better public and environmental management.
