INTELIGENCE SYSTEM FOR URBAN TRAFIC MONITORING

This project aims to develop an integrated solution called SIMTUR (Intelligent System for Urban Traffic Monitoring) that seeks to provide support to users of public transportation and private sectors. For passengers of public transport, we want to provide information on routes and vehicle tracking. For drivers will be provided information of traffic conditions and urban roads, as well a secure communication between serviced vehicles. This project will also develop a simulator of intelligent traffic lights and it will result in a shared data base, which can be used by government agencies and local governments in urban planning.

The following contributions are envisaged for this project:

  • Development of an information service for public transport routes;
  • Development of a tracking service for public transport GPS and estimated waiting time, using context information;
  • Development of a social network and use of collective intelligence techniques for information exchange among users of public transportation;
  • Management of data-oriented context (average speed, time and location of vehicles);
  • Development of a simulator of intelligent traffic lights;
  • Providing communication services and collection of environmental data through a wireless network infrastructure composed of heterogeneous sensors and vehicles;
  • Development of a web portal for providing information and interactivity with the users SIMTUR;
  • Providing a shared database with information about vehicles, lines, routes, segments, semaphores, and other passengers.
